Responsibilities: Field Duties (70- 80% of work time):

Must be able to travel up to five days a week.

Prepare drawings of field sketches using AutoCAD.

1 year general construction experience preferred; some cell tower industry experience highly preferred.

Must have a labor intensive attitude and be capable of climbing towers, water tanks or rooftops.

Read and interpret structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and design requirements related to telecommunications, commercial, residential, and light industrial applications.

Experience in AutoCAD or equivalent drawing software preferred.

Perform inspections, tower mappings and post construction inspections on telecommunications towers.

Conduct due diligence for multiple projects prior to field work.

Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.

Must have the physical ability and the willingness to scan, probe, dig and drill to obtain the foundation dimensions and steel reinforcement on guyed, SST and monopole towers.

Review peer work product.

Good communication and interpersonal skills; self-starter, team player, and results oriented.

Provide superior customer service while ensuring all essential job functions are performed in a timely, efficient, accurate, and safe manner.

Must be at least 21 years old, have a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record to operate a company vehicle.

Adhere to all company and industry standard/regulations (OSHA, COMTRAIN, etc.).


This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Functions

    • Responsible for planning and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation and selection of vendors, materials, and subcontractors.
    • Devise new approaches to problems and monitor work compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and TEP standards.
    • Ability to exercise independent decision making for purchase orders, sales orders, etc. as pertaining to assigned projects.
    • Prepare reports and closeouts related to projects.
    • Work with multiple jurisdictions to comply with permitting and zoning requirements.
    • Potential overflow into other areas of Civil engineering.

Physical Demands

    1. This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

Construction Associate, Design/Build

Position requires thorough knowledge of construction techniques and financial implications on projects. Responsible for planning and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of vendors, materials, and subcontractors, as needed. Incumbent will devise new approaches to problems and monitor work compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and Solid Storm standards.

Required Education: Bachelor degree in construction, engineering, or equivalent applicable experience.

Ability to multi-task and work on different projects simultaneously.

Strong technical, written, and oral communications skills.

Strong understanding of financial and budgetary requirements on projects.

Experience communicating directly with and providing services to clients.

Ability to understand and apply budgeting principles throughout project lifecycle.

Experience in working with multiple discipline projects within the telecommunication, residential, commercial or light/heavy industrial fields is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications
Essential Functions:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Master’s degree in anthropology with an emphasis in archaeology.

Complete Phase I and Phase II archaeological surveys (or “Class III” surveys) for Section 106 compliance.

Ability to complete complicated cultural resource projects without supervision and/or assistance from others.

5 years experience conducting Phase I and Phase II archaeological surveys (or “Class III” surveys).

Prepare and submit FCC Form 620s and 621s for proposed communications tower sites.

Working knowledge of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and NAGPRA.

Valid driver’s license and ability to perform field work.

Coordinate and correspond with SHPOs and Native American tribes on Section 106 projects.

Working knowledge of the FCC’s Nationwide Programmatic Agreements (NPA and Collo NPA).

Manage client projects to include correspondence to clients, problem resolution, and final reports to meet required deadlines.

Experience with applying National Register criteria to a variety of cultural resources including above-ground resources.

Manage Archaeologist(s) and/or other cultural resources personnel.

Ability to conduct complex analysis/curation of cultural resources.

Manage curation laboratory.

Experience cooperating and coordinating with State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPOs) and Native American tribes.

Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite and ArcGIS.

Excellent written and verbal communication skill.

Ability to work independently and with a team.

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and out-of-town for up to a week at a time.

Work Environment

Approximately 25% performed in an external environment, on-site, outdoors, exposed to the elements of nature working under normal construction conditions. Approximately 75% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions.
